Communications Officer

About the role

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago is recruiting a Communications Officer (ref. C003) for a contractual position. The incumbent contributes to the communications targets of the Ministry/Department and helps monitor their implementation, coordinating media relations, producing and disseminating content, managing the intranet and website, and maintaining a contact database. Depending on the assignment, the role covers one or more communications functional areas and reports to the Senior Communications Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Help track sector developments and take part in designing and implementing the Ministry's marketing and communications strategy, including digital media content.
• Carry out research and analysis to prepare policy documents, briefs, working papers and presentations, and evaluate the success of communication programmes.
• Develop media strategies for announcements and events, write press releases and other communications, and manage press, radio and television interviews.
• Coordinate collateral printing and distribution, draft responses to adverse publicity, and monitor news and media databases.
• Manage the intranet site using a content management system and keep it aligned with the brand identity guide.
• Produce and edit content for the staff newsletter, team briefings, noticeboards and project briefs, and maintain an events calendar.
• Support stakeholder engagement, including citizen engagement and events management, and maintain a stakeholder contact database.
• Perform protocol duties and handle internal and external correspondence.
