Economic Affairs Officer – Regional Integration & Trade

About the role

The Economic Affairs Officer will support the Deputy Chief at the ECLAC Subregional Headquarters for the Caribbean, covering 25 Caribbean countries and territories. The role focuses on monitoring and analysing regional integration, trade, urban development and development finance, providing policy recommendations to small developing economies.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor economic developments related to regional integration, trade, urban development and finance, and draft policy recommendations.
• Conduct and coordinate research studies on integration, trade and finance, with emphasis on the Caribbean integration process.
• Analyse macro‑economic performance and propose structural transformation strategies for small economies.
• Engage senior policymakers on policy options addressing macro‑economic and trade challenges.
• Design, conduct and report on studies of selected integration, trade and finance issues.
• Apply macro‑economic and econometric modelling techniques to assess prospects and policies of small states.
• Organise expert group meetings, seminars and prepare speeches or presentation inputs for senior staff.
• Provide substantive support to intergovernmental bodies such as the Caribbean Development and Cooperation Committee.

Required profile

• Experience in economic analysis, regional integration, trade and development finance.
• Ability to engage senior policy makers and present findings at international meetings.
• Works under the supervision of the Deputy Chief.
