Material Inspector – Oil & Gas

About the role

The Material Inspector will support field execution of the QA/QC programme for oil & gas construction projects. The role ensures that all incoming materials and equipment meet project specifications and that any quality issues are identified, reported and resolved.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials, equipment and warehouse items (welding, NDE, painting, hydro‑testing) to verify compliance with drawings, specifications and industry codes.
• Coordinate with QA/QC, SCM, Construction and HSSE teams to implement preservation plans, resolve non‑conformances and produce daily QA/QC reports.
• Audit work progress, monitor corrective actions and ensure all QA/QC records are retained according to documented procedures.
• Review inspection reports, PQR, WPS, welding qualifications and radiographic films for compliance with API, ASME, AWS and NACE standards.

Required profile

• Diploma or certification in Construction, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
• Quality certification based on ISO 9001:2008 (e.g., CQE, CQA, CQT, CQI).
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in material inspection within oil & gas construction.
• Valid Certificate of Good Character (issued within the last six months).

Required skills

• ISO 9001:2008 quality management knowledge.
• Level I or II Radiographic Film Interpretation.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with AWS standards.
• Non‑Destructive Testing methods: MT, PT, UT, VT.
• Familiarity with API 570, 620, 650, 1104, ASME B31.3, Section V & IX, NACE standards, ISO 8501 and SSPC systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
