Compliance Officer

About the role

FigTree Financial is looking for a hands‑on Compliance Officer to lead the day‑to‑day operation of its compliance programme across Barbados, Trinidad and Cayman. Reporting to the Head of Governance, the role will translate regulatory obligations into effective controls and ensure timely, accurate filings and investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Own the group‑wide compliance calendar, coordinating filings, renewals, licences and fit‑and‑proper updates.
• Serve as MLRO/MLCO where appointed, assess internal suspicious activity disclosures and file STRs/SARs within statutory timelines.
• Lead sanctions and PEP screening, transaction monitoring, AML/CFT risk assessments and remediation of audit findings.
• Review onboarding and periodic‑review files, conduct enhanced due diligence on high‑risk clients and complex structures.
• Prepare FATCA/CRS reporting and coordinate regulator, auditor and inspection team responses.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of progressive experience in compliance, AML/CFT or financial crime within regulated financial services.
• Strong working knowledge of AML/CFT, KYC/CDD, sanctions, FATCA/CRS and Caribbean/international regulatory frameworks.
• Relevant professional certification held or in progress (e.g., CAMS, ICA Certificate).
• Excellent judgement, organisation and ability to manage competing deadlines across jurisdictions.
