Tyre Technician

About the role

A tyre technician is needed in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, to carry out tyre services, routine vehicle inspections, sales of company products and battery warranty services while following company and brand standards and quality control procedures. The role also covers the storage, handling and preparation of batteries and tyres for retail and wholesale channels.

Key responsibilities

• Remove and fit wheels and tyres, balance tyres, repair them (patches and plugs) and rotate wheels.
• Fill tyres with air or nitrogen and check and install batteries on vehicles.
• Conduct routine vehicle inspections, report results to customers and recommend company products; analyse battery failures and handle battery warranty settlements.
• Load and offload delivery vans and trucks with batteries, tyres and other inventory, and help receive, check and pack goods from suppliers or between branches.
• Keep the workshop clean, sweep floors, store tools and equipment neatly, maintain equipment such as alignment machines, ramps, balancing machines and tyre changers, and take part in monthly or weekly stock counts.
• Refer customers to the supervisor when their needs go beyond what can be delivered.

Required profile

• 3 CXC passes including English and Mathematics.
• Vocational training in automotive, mechanical or electrical systems is an asset; previous work experience is an asset.
• Willingness to work overtime and on weekends.

• Ability to work as part of a team, set priorities, work independently and meet objectives without supervision.
