About the role
We are seeking experienced Competency Assessors with Mechanical and/or Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (E&I) backgrounds to support professional services activities within Trinidad & Tobago's energy and industrial sectors. The role focuses on assessing and evaluating technical knowledge, practical capability and competency of personnel against established competency frameworks and development requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct technical competency assessments of engineering and technical personnel.
- Evaluate practical skills, technical knowledge and workplace competence against established standards.
- Review supporting evidence to determine competency levels.
- Conduct structured technical discussions, observations and assessments.
- Identify competency gaps and support the development of training plans.
- Maintain accurate assessment records and contribute to competency assurance reporting.
- Provide constructive feedback to assessed personnel.
- Collaborate with technical and operational stakeholders to ensure relevance of assessments.
- Support continuous improvement of assessment and development processes.
- Promote consistent, objective and professional assessment practices.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Engineering or related discipline (Engineering route) OR a National Technician's Diploma or equivalent (Technician route).
- Minimum 8 years relevant oil and gas experience for engineers or 15 years for senior technicians.
- Strong practical technical knowledge within Mechanical or E&I discipline.
- Experience in operating plants, process facilities or comparable energy/industrial environments.
- Ability to assess technical knowledge and practical workplace competence.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and documentation skills.
- Assessor training qualification from a recognised/accredited organisation is desirable.
