Firefighter (USSF Base, Ascension Island)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Firefighter to join our team at the United States Space Force base on Ascension Island. The role involves delivering fire and emergency services across structural, airport and hazardous‑materials incidents while supporting the base’s operational readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to structural, airport and Haz‑Mat emergencies on a rotating schedule.
• Operate firefighting equipment such as pumps, foam generators, booms and ground‑sweep nozzles.
• Perform auto‑extrication and provide victim/patient care.
• Conduct daily preventive maintenance inspections of vehicles and equipment.
• Follow Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s Fire and Emergency Services Training Program (AF EMSTP) and AFI 32‑2001 certification requirements.
• Use protective gear for incidents involving poisonous gases, radioactive or biological hazards.
• Participate in scheduled fire drills and attend required training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; graduation from an accredited firefighting school (IFSAC or NPQS).
• Minimum 2 years experience as a firefighter, including Firefighter I & II, Airport Firefighter (ARFF) and Haz‑Mat awareness.
• Valid CPR certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross).
• Pass entry‑level physical examination per NFPA 1582.
• Valid driver’s licence from country of origin.
• English proficiency demonstrated by TOEFL or IELTS.
