HSSE Officer (6-Month Contract)

About the role

The Trinidad and Tobago Civil Aviation Authority (TTCAA) is recruiting an HSSE Officer for a six-month contract. The officer assists in developing, implementing and maintaining the health, safety, security and environment (HSSE) management systems, policies and procedures of the Authority, and assesses workplace and operational risks, initiating action to mitigate, manage and where possible eliminate them.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the TTCAA's HSSE policies.
• Support the HSSE Specialist in promoting safe work performance through safety systems, policies, procedures, campaigns and communications.
• Identify unsafe work practices, conditions and equipment and recommend ways to reduce risk.
• Respond to emergency calls and incident reports, taking part in first aid, fire-fighting and accident/incident investigations.
• Prepare incident reports (including near misses) and compile statistical information.
• Conduct site visits and report on health and safety issues with recommendations for action.
• Assist in HSSE training, orientation, safety audits and risk assessments.
• Maintain accurate health and safety records, physically and electronically.

Required profile

• Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health or a related discipline.
• At least three years of experience in occupational health and safety.
• Good knowledge of HSSE policies and best practice.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines, and to build good relationships with stakeholders.
