Quality Control Technician - Fibre & Telecommunications

About the role

A field-based Quality Control Technician position in Rio Claro, Trinidad, helping maintain high standards across residential fibre and telecommunications installations. The role assesses installation sites, inspects workmanship, identifies defects and makes practical recommendations on cable routing, equipment placement and corrective work. The stated salary is TT$8,000 per month.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre-installation site visits and assessments.
• Recommend suitable internal and external cable routes and appropriate ONT/equipment placement within customer premises.
• Inspect fibre and telecommunications installations for quality and workmanship, including pole connections, external cabling and customer-premises installations.
• Identify exposed, poorly routed or unnecessarily visible wiring, defects, incomplete work and non-compliant installation practices.
• Prepare inspection reports, photographs and quality-control records.
• Recommend corrective action and conduct follow-up inspections.
• Work with technicians, installation teams, supervisors and management, and identify recurring issues to recommend improvements.
• Help reduce rework, service issues and customer complaints.

Required profile

• Ideally technical training in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Networking or a related field.
• Previous experience in telecommunications, fibre, cabling, electrical installation, technical inspection or a related environment.
• Practical understanding of residential cable routing and installation quality.
• Ability to work independently in the field and to carry out inspections involving poles and elevated points while following safety procedures.
