Security Officer – Ascension Island

About the role

The Security Officer will provide security and policing functions on Ascension Island under the authority of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and the Bahamas Agreement. This role supports V2X’s mission to protect personnel, facilities, and assets while ensuring compliance with U.S. and international regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Exercise authority granted by the Bahamas Agreement to detain, search, and transfer civilians to appropriate authorities.
• Control access to sites and facilities following the established Access Control Process (DAFI 31-101).
• Perform security duties in restricted or controlled areas, including document and system checks.
• Document incidents, property damage, theft, and respond to alarms, suspicious activities, and accidents.
• Conduct initial investigations of crimes, incidents, and accidents within the limits of applicable law.
• Detain intruders or criminals safely until handover to the proper authority.
• Coordinate with Det 2 CC, local police, fire officials, and RAF for emergency response and joint patrols.
• Screen aircraft passengers and luggage, reporting violations per DAFI 24-605.
• Control traffic, enforce regulations, investigate accidents, and maintain traffic records as required by international agreements.

Required profile

• Authorization to exercise authority under the UCMJ and Title 18 USC.
• Eligibility to operate under the Bahamas Agreement governing Ascension Island.
• Ability to follow DAFI regulations (31-101, 24-605) and security incident reporting procedures.
• Physical fitness to perform patrols, detentions, and emergency response duties.
