Civil Engineer – Facility Infrastructure

About the role

The Civil Engineer will plan, evaluate and support the operation, maintenance and investment strategy for civil infrastructure at Ascension Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF). Working closely with operations personnel, the role ensures mission‑ready facilities on a remote island base while complying with U.S. Air Force and host‑nation standards.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prioritize and manage preventive and corrective maintenance requirements throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Develop and execute lifecycle sustainment strategies using the BUILDER Sustainment Management System (SMS) and NexGen IT.
• Analyze built and natural infrastructure asset data and produce long‑range preventative maintenance and improvement plans.
• Review statements of work, contract specifications, RFPs and material submittals to guarantee mission‑capable outcomes.
• Attend occupancy and final inspection meetings, ensure completion of operation and maintenance training, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Maintain the O&M manual database and coordinate work orders, investment timing and warranty programs.
• Collaborate with other Operations Engineering personnel to develop cost estimates and present recommendations at staff, WRRB and FB meetings.

Required profile

• Must ensure compliance with U.S. Air Force and host‑nation standards.
• Must manage and update data in BUILDER and PAVER systems accurately.
• Ability to work on a remote island base and coordinate with facility managers and trades personnel.

Required skills

• Proficiency with BUILDER Sustainment Management System (SMS).
• Experience using PAVER for data management.
• Familiarity with NexGen IT for asset performance tracking.
