Commis Chef - Employee Cafe

About the role

Hyatt Regency Trinidad is hiring a Commis I for its employee cafe. This culinary position requires intermediate cooking skills or related cooking experience and good communication skills. The Commis I prepares, plates and presents meal items according to the Chef de Partie's instructions, while rotating between sub-departments of the Culinary Division as assigned.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, plate and present meal items as instructed by the Chef de Partie, delivering a consistent, high-quality product.
• Perform all duties to the standards set for the place of work, following Hyatt Regency Trinidad Standards of Performance.
• Follow the Master Task List for the department, which is reviewed regularly.
• Be familiar with all hotel services and facilities, and carry out opening and closing procedures.
• Keep the place of work and surroundings clean and organised, and monitor supplies to reduce spoilage and waste.
• Handle guest enquiries courteously and report guest complaints to supervisors, ensuring follow-up.

Required profile

• 2 years of previous line cook experience.
• Culinary diploma or related certification.
• Able to perform all intermediate cooking skills and work single station in the kitchen.
• Valid food badge.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand for long periods; Thai or Indian cuisine experience is an asset.
