Driller - Semisubmersible Rig, Caribbean

About the role

Due to a recent contract award, Deepsea Mira is crewing up for the wider Caribbean area and is recruiting a Driller. The contract is estimated at 150 days plus options, with operations expected to start in April 2027; vacant positions are expected to start mobilising from January 2027. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all well operations are carried out safely and efficiently in line with the operational plan, procedures and good industry practice, with overall responsibility for rig floor operations.
• Maintain communication with rig mud loggers and other well support services, and report defective rig floor equipment immediately.
• Make sure everyone under your authority is adequately trained and experienced for their tasks, and keep them informed of ongoing and future work.
• Plan the next steps of the operation, organise operational and QHSE activities in the drilling areas, and keep the work areas clean and safe.
• Organise on-the-job training for the Assistant Driller and drill crew, and keep an accurate written log of drilling activities and components in the hole.
• Control the speed of pipe lowering and withdrawal during tripping, and supervise the crew while making connections and tripping.
• Keep the well under full control, update the kick sheet daily, run regular kick and well control drills, and maintain well control equipment such as PVTs, flow meters and alarms.
• Report accidents, unsafe practices or conditions promptly to the supervisor, and coach personnel proactively on safety.

Required profile

• Relevant education or certificate from a technical mechanical school.
• Valid IWCF/IADC BOP Drilling Well Control Certificate (subsea and surface), Driller Level 3.
• Documented practical experience as Driller on MODU or floating installations.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Experience with HMH Drillview, DDM 1000 and CMC/AHC equipment is desirable.
