ICT Security Specialist

About the role

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago is recruiting a contract ICT Security Specialist. The incumbent provides specialised technical services for the administration and maintenance of the security of all ICT infrastructure of the Ministry/Department, giving specialist security advice, developing policy and procedures, monitoring secure operations, assisting with security implementations, performing security audits and reviews, and supervising other ICT technical and support staff.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct security risk and vulnerability assessments for software applications and ICT installations, recommend security strategies and controls, investigate suspected attacks and manage security incidents.
• Plan and run programmes to review ICT security activities and ensure compliance with security policy and procedures, report on conformance and recommend improvements.
• Investigate security breaches, recommend corrective actions, help users manage their access controls, implement agreed controls, and maintain security records.
• Contribute to the service continuity planning process and assist in implementing the resulting plan.
• Keep up with developments in network security, intrusion detection and protection, vulnerability assessment and identity management to advise on improving security.

Required profile

• Minimum of three years' experience in ICT, including at least two years securing ICT systems.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Certification in information technology security management, such as CCNA Security or CISSP.

Required skills

• Knowledge of application, network and infrastructure security, and of solutions such as CheckPoint.
• Ability to supervise technical and support staff and to analyse security problems and incidents.
• Effective oral and written communication and teamwork.
