ICT Technical Officer

About the role

The Ministry/Department is looking for an ICT Technical Officer to provide technical support for the operations and maintenance of its ICT infrastructure, under the guidance and direction of supervisors. The role covers desktop support, network monitoring, incident handling and change support.

Key responsibilities

• Install and support personal computers and related software, and assist with the installation of computer room and networking infrastructure.
• Monitor and log ICT services against service level agreements, and liaise with supervisors on breaches.
• Respond to service desk and incident management requests, and handle them according to agreed procedures.
• Recognize and respond to security attacks or breaches, applying defined security controls and taking corrective action.
• Install or remove hardware and software, test and correct malfunctions, and update maintenance and configuration records.
• Assist professional staff with the release and deployment of changes to the live IT environment, including early support for initial users.
• Help with regular backups and restores, and track offsite storage.
• Contribute to routine maintenance, installation and problem resolution of the IT and networking infrastructure.

Required profile

• Minimum of three years of relevant technical experience.
• Training evidenced by a recognized Associate Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering or a related area.
• Ability to recognize and correct IT security breaches, and to work as part of a team and with colleagues and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IT and networking infrastructure components.
• Ability to install and remove hardware and software.
• Some knowledge of ICT management tools and techniques, project management tools, and Public Service rules and procedures.
