Information Systems Support Specialist

About the role

This role supports the Ministry's information systems, covering software testing, requirements analysis, application changes, security incident handling, user support and training. It also involves supervising technical and support staff and keeping up with technical specialisations in software operations, maintenance and support.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with software test development and execute system and acceptance testing of modified or enhanced information systems.
• Determine information systems requirements from management and stakeholders, confirm their alignment with business objectives and document and prioritise them.
• Develop, document and implement changes to Ministry applications in line with change control procedures.
• Investigate and resolve security incidents and maintain security controls protecting confidentiality, integrity and availability.
• Investigate operational problems, identify improvement opportunities and help users define acceptance tests.
• Support and maintain information systems, including project risk identification, mitigation and monitoring.
• Maintain support processes and oversee support requests.
• Deliver training on the Ministry's information systems to a variety of audiences.
• Keep up to date with technical specialisations in software operations, maintenance and support.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of ICT experience, including at least 18 months in software application maintenance, support and enhancement.
• Recognised Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Ability to supervise technical and support staff.
• Effective oral and written communication, teamwork, conflict management and positive interaction with the public and external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of software maintenance and enhancement processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of project management tools and techniques.
• Some knowledge of ICT management and control principles, tools and techniques.
