IT Analyst / Programmer

About the role

This position supports the development and implementation of software applications for a ministry or department, covering the analysis and development process, project monitoring and the full software lifecycle. It also involves analysing electronic data to support user reporting and operational information needs.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and develop software applications, monitor projects and investigate operational requirements and problems, identifying improvement opportunities and helping users define acceptance tests.
• Gather requirements from key stakeholders, confirm they align with business objectives and document and prioritise them according to defined standards.
• Review requirements and specifications, develop software tests (test cases and scripts) and help run testing of new or modified information systems.
• Assist in designing information systems and document outputs using defined standards, methods and tools.
• Develop, programme, test and correct software applications, implement software releases with stakeholder coordination and documentation, and resolve issues and carry out maintenance tasks.
• Analyse electronic data to support reporting and operational information needs.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of ICT experience, including at least 18 months in software analysis, programming, development and maintenance.
• A recognised Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Systems Management, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of software development and maintenance processes and of project management tools and techniques.
• Some knowledge of the principles, tools and techniques for managing and controlling ICT within an organisation.
• Ability to think creatively, work in a team, communicate orally and in writing, and interact positively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
