About the role
The Maintenance Manager provides strategic and operational leadership for the company's maintenance function, ensuring reliability, availability and efficient performance of production equipment and utilities in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies aligned with production, quality, safety and business objectives.
- Lead preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance programmes to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
- Plan and coordinate annual maintenance schedules, shutdowns and activities with Production and Operations.
- Monitor key maintenance and reliability KPIs such as equipment availability, MTBF and MTTR.
- Lead breakdown response, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for significant equipment failures.
- Manage, coach and develop the maintenance team, including manpower planning and performance management.
- Coordinate maintenance projects, equipment installations, upgrades and external contractors, ensuring safety, quality, budget and schedule compliance.
- Oversee reliability of critical plant utilities including electrical, refrigeration, compressed air and water systems.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years progressive maintenance or engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, with supervisory or managerial responsibility.
- Experience in high‑volume, regulated production such as food, beverage or FMCG.
- Proven ability to manage maintenance budgets, contractors, shutdowns and projects.
- Professional engineering registration or relevant certification is an asset.
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance practices.
- Expertise in mechanical, electrical, automation and refrigeration systems.
- Experience with plant utility systems (compressed air, water, electrical).
- Proficiency with CMMS/ERP systems, preferably Epicor.
- Root‑cause analysis and reliability engineering.
- Energy‑efficiency and asset‑optimization techniques.
