Paramedic (NREMT) – Advanced Life Support

About the role

The NREMT Paramedic provides Advanced Life Support, emergency medical response, patient assessment, stabilization, treatment, and transport for the Ascension Island medical clinic and emergency services under the V2X program.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver ALS emergency medical response, assessment, stabilization, treatment, and transport for authorized personnel across Ascension Island.
• Operate ambulances and emergency response equipment safely, and support MEDEVAC and patient transfer activities.
• Maintain readiness for 24/7 emergency response, including after‑hours and mass‑casualty scenarios.
• Document patient care, maintain equipment, and participate in emergency preparedness exercises.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited Paramedic program.
• Minimum two years recent experience as a Paramedic, preferably in remote, overseas, or austere environments.
• Current NREMT Paramedic certification and unrestricted state or national Paramedic license.
• Valid passport and ability to obtain required security and deployment credentials.

Required skills

• Advanced Life Support (ALS) and trauma care expertise.
• Operation of emergency medical vehicles and equipment.
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and preferably PALS, PHTLS or ITLS.
• Ability to work in high‑stress, remote, and austere conditions.
