ICT Engineer

About the role

Digicel, a digital connectivity and communications provider serving nine million customers across the Caribbean, Central and South America, is hiring an ICT Engineer in Port of Spain. You will support the Business Solutions product portfolio and its customers through site surveys, solution design and delivery, service installations including last-mile connectivity, planned maintenance, and 24/7 remote and on-site monitoring and support.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Business Solutions Help Desk and sales team, and help develop training for Technical ICT Engineers and Support teams.
• Monitor ticket queues during business hours, handle tickets to SLA, and update them accurately.
• Document configurations, as-built records, standard operating procedures and customer interactions, and obtain customer sign-off.
• Take part in operational acceptance of new ICT hardware, testing and rollout of new managed services, and physical preventative maintenance to keep circuits at 99.99% uptime.
• Install, repair, maintain and test ICT services at Digicel's PoPs and Data Centres, and diagnose incidents with detailed root-cause reports.
• Manage sub-contractors, develop MOPs and RFC documentation, and assess equipment performance from field data.
• Maintain tools and test equipment, and represent the Digicel brand professionally.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, ICT or a related field.
• At least 2 years' experience in a similar role; an acceptable combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Associate-level certification in Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet, Huawei, Avaya, Meraki or AudioCodes is desired.
• Anti-social hours, including night work, are expected when required.

Required skills

• IP principles and OSI model, switching and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), MPLS, L2/L3VPNs and WAN principles.
• SIP, E1, T1, VoIP telephony, AudioCodes gateways, PBX, firewalls, cloud computing, IEEE 802.11 and mobile telecommunications.
• Microsoft Office 365 suite and report writing.
