Derrickman - Semisubmersible Rig, Caribbean

About the role

Due to a recent contract award, Deepsea Mira is crewing up for the wider Caribbean area and is recruiting a Derrickman. The contract is estimated at 150 days plus options, with operations expected to start in April 2027; vacant positions are expected to start mobilising from January 2027. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the work of the Assistant Derrickman.
• Perform the required running maintenance in the pumproom, including drilling fluids and chemical mud additives.
• Cooperate with the Mud Engineer and mix mud chemicals on his orders.
• Assist with pressure testing of the mud manifold and, when required, assist on the drillfloor.
• Train the Assistant Derrickman.
• Check the mud system and chemical additives, and ensure equipment is functioning and tidy.
• Register and follow up spare parts stock.
• Maintain, clean and make safe the derrick equipment.
• Set the mud pump pop-off valve (safety valve / rupture disk) correctly.
• Record running times for pump parts, mud weight and viscosity.

Required profile

• Relevant education or certificate from a technical or mechanical school.
• Systematic familiarisation and competence assessment for the position.
• Documented practical experience as Roughneck or Assistant Derrickman on a MODU.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• Experience with HMH MCS (mud control system) and Aker Wirth TPK 2200 mud pumps is desirable.
