Shell BMU Project HSSE&S Team Lead

About the role

The HSSE&S Team Leader will develop, implement and continuously improve the Massy Wood Group HSSE&S Management System for the Shell BMU Project, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute HSSE&S improvement plans, monitor progress against success criteria and close out reviews.
• Assist with the BU HSSE&S annual plan, provide support for management level HSSE&S meetings and ensure compliance with the Massy Wood Group HSSE&S Management System.
• Lead HSSE&S integration into productivity and profitability, manage safety risks, and support line management in meeting statutory duties and permit‑to‑work audits.
• Provide expert advice on legislation, safety case, major hazard register, occupational hygiene, environmental management and radiation protection.
• Prepare statistical performance data, analyse incident trends and present findings to senior management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
• NEBOSH Certificate/Diploma or equivalent recognised safety professional qualification.
• Minimum 12 years’ experience in a similar HSSE&S leadership role, with at least 7 years in oil & gas or process industries.
• Proven experience at operational locations, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to mentor and develop HSSE&S teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HSSE&S regulations and standards (TT laws, API, OSHA, NFPA, OHSAS 18001, ISO 14000).
• Experience with HSSE&S Management Systems, safety case development, major hazard registers and COSHH.
• Occupational hygiene expertise (noise, heat stress, manual handling, display screen equipment, radiation protection).
• Proficiency in computer applications, including word processing and spreadsheets, and HSSE&S information management systems.
