Accounting Assistant

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Accounting Assistant to support the Reconciliation team at Guardian Life of the Caribbean Limited. The role focuses on low‑risk reconciliation tasks, clearing legacy items and assisting with cash‑management reporting. This position offers an opportunity to develop practical accounting experience in a dynamic financial services environment.

Key responsibilities

• Complete low‑risk reconciliation items and investigate unresolved differences across multiple years.
• Achieve targeted resolution rates (e.g., 80% of aged items within defined timeframes).
• Prepare and update indebtedness statements for staff and agents, meeting turnaround times of 3‑5 working days.
• Assist the bank team with cash‑management reports and ensure daily summary sheets are submitted by 10 am.
• Monitor and respond to mailbox communications for the OR Team and Bank Reconciliations Team within 24‑72 hours.
• Manage end‑to‑end assigned projects, conducting deep‑dive investigations of transaction categories and reporting findings to the lead.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 CXC/CSEC passes, including Mathematics and English Language.
• 1–2 years of experience in an accounting role.
• Certificate of Character as required by Know Your Employee regulations.
• Meticulous, systematic, logical, with strong time‑management abilities.
• Ability to interact professionally with staff at all levels and external parties.
