Accounting Assistant

About the role

Guardian Life of the Caribbean Limited is looking for a detail‑oriented Accounting Assistant to support its reconciliation team. You will handle low‑risk reconciliation tasks, investigate and clear outstanding items, and assist with cash management reporting, ensuring accuracy across multiple years.

Key responsibilities

• Complete low‑risk reconciliation and investigate unresolved differences, including legacy items from 2024 and earlier.
• Achieve targeted resolution rates for aged items, aiming for an 80% clearance within set timeframes.
• Prepare and update the Indebtedness Statement, delivering balances to staff and agents within specified turnaround times.
• Assist the bank team with cash‑management reports and update daily summary sheets for review by 10 am.
• Monitor and manage the OR Team and Bank Reconciliations Team mailboxes, responding to correspondence within 24‑72 hours.
• Lead end‑to‑end assigned projects, conducting deep‑dive analyses of transaction categories and reporting findings to the project lead.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 CXC/CSEC passes, including Mathematics and English Language.
• 1‑2 years of experience in an accounting role.
• Certificate of Character as required by Know Your Employee guidelines.
• Meticulous, systematic, and logical approach with strong time‑management skills.
• Ability to interact professionally with staff at all levels and external parties.
