Assistant Accountant

About the role

The Assistant Accountant will join the finance team at Aero Services Credit Union in Tunapuna, providing day‑to‑day support for the accounting function. This full‑time, on‑site position assists the senior accountant with preparing reports, closing periods and maintaining compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and update financial reports, schedules and supporting documentation.
• Assist with month‑end and year‑end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Perform bank reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracy.
• Respond to internal and external queries related to accounting data.
• Collaborate with colleagues to identify and implement process improvements.
• Provide general administrative support to the accounting department.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles such as double‑entry bookkeeping.
• Attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
• Effective organizational and time‑management abilities.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle confidential financial information ethically.
• ACCCA Level II certification (or equivalent).
