Drone & Robotics Operator – Industrial Inspections

About the role

The Drone & Robotics Operator will join Hummingbird Drone and Robotic Services Limited in Trinidad and Tobago to conduct industrial plant inspections, ultrasonic thickness (UT) testing and methane detection surveys using advanced drone and ROV platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and program flight missions and ROV dives in accordance with client requirements and safety regulations.
• Set up, calibrate and operate multirotor drones (e.g., DJI M300 RTK) and underwater ROVs for visual and sensor data capture.
• Collect and transmit high‑resolution imagery, ultrasonic data and gas‑sensor readings for analysis.
• Perform routine maintenance, basic troubleshooting and equipment checks before and after each deployment.
• Collaborate with inspection engineers and project managers to ensure accurate reporting and timely service delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience operating industrial drones and robotic systems in inspection environments.
• Familiarity with UT testing, visual surveys or other non‑destructive testing methods.
• Ability to work on‑site in varied conditions, including confined spaces and heights.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel across Trinidad and Tobago.
• Relevant certifications in drone operation, robotics or NDT are a plus.

Required skills

• Operation of DJI M300 RTK or similar multirotor platforms.
• ROV piloting and underwater data acquisition.
• Ultrasonic thickness (UT) testing equipment handling.
• Gas detection sensor integration for methane surveys.
• Equipment setup, calibration and basic troubleshooting.
