Junior Underwriter

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Junior Underwriter to join Guardian Life of the Caribbean Limited. In this entry‑level position you will support the assessment of new life‑insurance business, evaluate risk, and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines while developing your expertise in the insurance sector.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite individual life‑insurance applications within defined turnaround times.
• Enter underwriting decisions into the Ingenium/UWPro systems and upload supporting documents to MFiles.
• Communicate requirements and decisions to branches, agents, and case officers via email.
• Consult the Chief Medical Officer and refer cases to reinsurers when necessary.
• Gather additional information from clients, doctors, and third‑party companies to complete underwriting records.
• Document substandard decisions with detailed reasons and follow up on pending or declined cases.
• Participate in regular training sessions and departmental meetings.

Required profile

• Minimum of five CXC/CSEC/CAPE passes, including Mathematics and English.
• Strong analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail.
• Excellent written communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with agents and medical professionals.
• Willingness to learn underwriting principles and actuarial concepts.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Ingenium or UWPro underwriting platforms.
• Experience uploading and managing documents in MFiles.
