Junior Underwriter – Life Insurance

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Junior Underwriter to join Guardian Life of the Caribbean Limited. In this entry‑level position you will support the assessment of new life‑insurance business, evaluate risk, and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines while gaining hands‑on experience in the insurance sector.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite individual life‑insurance applications within defined turnaround times.
• Update underwriting decisions in the Ingenium and UWPro systems and upload supporting documents to MFiles.
• Communicate requirements to branches, agents, clients, doctors and reinsurers via email.
• Consult the Chief Medical Officer when medical information is needed.
• Assist agents with underwriting queries and provide clarification on policy exclusions.
• Document substandard cases, include rationale, and forward decisions exceeding authority limits for manager review.
• Participate in training sessions, respond to queries within service‑standard timelines, and maintain system codes.

Required profile

• Minimum of five CXC/CSEC/CAPE passes, including Mathematics and English.
• Strong analytical mindset with a keen eye for detail.
• Interest in building a career in life‑insurance underwriting.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Ingenium underwriting software.
• Experience using UWPro for risk assessment.
• Ability to manage documents in MFiles.
