Materials Officer

About the role

The Materials Officer ensures smooth operation of the Materials Management function by supervising Material Handlers and maintaining accurate inventory records. This position acts as a bridge between the handling team and the Material Coordinator, supporting safe and efficient material flow on construction sites.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct process assurance for all material transactions and ensure timely entry into the inventory system.
• Supervise daily tasks of Material Handlers, covering receiving, binning, picking, staging and dispatch.
• Maintain accurate records in SAP, Maximo or other ERP platforms and support cycle counts and audits.
• Report discrepancies, damages or delays to the Material Coordinator.
• Enforce HSE, quality and housekeeping standards across warehouse and lay‑down areas.
• Collaborate with logistics and procurement teams on material availability and delivery schedules.
• Prepare reports on inventory accuracy, material issues and workflow performance.
• Provide training and guidance to Material Handlers on procedures and safety.

Required profile

• Diploma or Certificate in Supply Chain, Logistics or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in a warehouse or materials handling environment, preferably in oil & gas or industrial sectors.
• Experience with on‑shore/off‑shore construction project material coordination is an asset.
• Working knowledge of inventory systems and warehouse management tools.
• Experience supervising small teams is a plus.
• Familiarity with international and local material handling standards and safety practices.
• Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills.
