Ramp Attendant

About the role

Swissport is seeking motivated individuals to join its airport ground handling team as Ramp Attendants. You will work in a fast‑paced aviation environment, supporting aircraft movements, passenger assistance, and cargo operations.

Key responsibilities

• Marshall aircraft during arrival and departure and ensure safe coning and chocking of restricted areas.
• Communicate with the cockpit via headset as authorized and trained.
• Inspect ramp areas for debris/FOD and remove it promptly.
• Unload and deliver wheelchairs, child strollers, mail, live animals, and cargo to designated locations.
• Assist inbound and outbound passengers using company‑assigned wheelchairs.
• Load and unload passenger luggage, air cargo, pallets, and containers onto carts or dollies.
• Handle, sort, stack, and store cargo packages, including special handling for fragile or heavy items.
• Prepare and palletize cargo, and ensure all paperwork is accurate.
• Follow ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISAGO standards and Dangerous Goods regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum CXC O’Level passes in Math and English.
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Willingness to work in inclement weather and on flexible shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays).
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and manuals.
• Basic numeracy skills for measurements and calculations.
