Energy Specialist – Caribbean Region

About the role
The Energy Specialist will support CAF’s positioning in the Caribbean region’s energy transition by analysing the sector, identifying business opportunities, and contributing to project evaluation, technical assistance and knowledge dissemination.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse national investment priorities, regulatory frameworks and sector dynamics to define CAF’s strategic actions.
- Identify, structure and implement technical assistance initiatives for public policies, regulation and institutional strengthening.
- Contribute sector information, organise and participate in national and regional events to promote CAF’s positioning.
- Review and evaluate knowledge products, sector analyses and strategic inputs for relevance to the regional context.
- Support project evaluation and supervision through due‑diligence review, technical progress monitoring and report preparation.
Required profile
- University degree in Engineering, Economics or related field; master’s degree in Economics, Public Policy or related area.
- Minimum six years of relevant experience, preferably in multilateral banking or international organisations.
- Native English proficiency, advanced Spanish and desirable Portuguese.
- Experience and knowledge of the Latin America and Caribbean region.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work proactively in multicultural teams.
Required skills
- Knowledge of stakeholders and institutions in the energy sector.
- Understanding of institutional and regulatory frameworks governing energy.
- Expertise in market analysis and corporate structures.
- Project evaluation skills specific to energy transition.
- Knowledge of public finance and corporate finance.
- Understanding of energy transition processes and variables.
