Assistant Accountant

About the role

The Assistant Accountant will support the Accountant, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting while supervising junior accounting staff and assisting with key accounting, reconciliation and audit activities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise junior accounting staff and ensure workflows are completed accurately and on time.
• Support preparation of monthly financial statements and internal/external reports.
• Process cash receipts, bank adjustments, accruals and general journals.
• Review cheque payment vouchers and supporting documentation.
• Edit and post Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable batches.
• Prepare daily bank reconciliations and key account reconciliations, including intercompany accounts.
• Assist with stock variance investigations and coordinate external audits.
• Maintain fixed asset addition records.

Required profile

• Pursuing ACCA Level 3 or hold an equivalent combination of accounting qualifications, training and experience.
• At least five years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience managing or supervising junior accounting staff.
• Strong analytical and investigative skills.
• Deadline‑driven, organised and detail‑oriented.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organisational and time‑management skills.
