Assistant Pastry Chef

About the role

The Assistant Pastry Chef will join THE STARTING LINE LTD’s dynamic kitchen in Couva, supporting Executive Chef Abigale in creating high‑quality pastries, desserts and specialty baked goods. This full‑time, on‑site position offers the chance to develop culinary techniques in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Weigh, mix and bake ingredients to produce consistent pastries and desserts.
• Operate commercial ovens, mixers and other baking equipment safely.
• Assist in developing new recipes and refining existing ones.
• Prepare food for events and ensure production schedules are met.
• Monitor and replenish inventory of baking supplies.
• Maintain strict cleanliness, organization and hygiene standards in the pastry kitchen.

Required profile

• Strong bakery and pastry experience, preferably in a professional kitchen.
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation and hygiene practices.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately while contributing creative ideas.
• Good time‑management and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Culinary or pastry certification is an asset.
