About the role
The Account Manager will be responsible for driving portfolio growth and profit generation for assigned commercial banking accounts. The role involves developing and maintaining strong client relationships, ensuring compliance with bank policies, and contributing to the unit’s strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing marketing strategies and new business development activities.
- Approve credit applications within delegated limits and recommend escalations when required.
- Maintain a regular call program with new and prospective customers to build banking relationships.
- Ensure each application complies with the bank’s policies and procedures.
- Review internal credit decisions, monitor credit quality, and recommend corrective actions.
- Implement programs to maintain loan quality, manage problem loans, and adhere to security regulations.
- Stay updated on bank policies, economic trends, legislation, and accounting practices.
- Support remedial systems for audit‑identified deficiencies.
- Contribute to profitable growth by ensuring optimal pricing on credits within policy guidelines.
- Review overdrawn or arrears accounts and take corrective actions.
- Maintain General Ledger accounts for the Commercial Business Centre.
- Identify credit training needs and develop staff to ensure sound credit judgement.
- Provide input for budgeting and monitor centre expenditures.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Head of Commercial Banking.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or a professional qualification (CFA, CIMA, ACCA) with at least three years of progressive banking experience, including supervisory experience, OR an Executive Diploma/Diploma with five years of experience, OR a GMDP Certificate with seven years of experience.
- Demonstrated experience in credit risk management and analysis of company financial statements.
- Strong knowledge of banking policies, credit procedures, and regulatory requirements.
