Accounting Assistant (Grade 2) - Finance

About the role

Sagicor General Insurance Trinidad & Tobago Limited is looking for an Accounting Assistant, Grade 2, for a temporary position in its Finance Department. The role covers processing payments, processing premium receipts and general accounting functions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare all assigned payments on time, update payment registers and dispatch payments to internal customers and third parties promptly.
• Enter data into the GIMS insurance system and the GL SUN system.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and complete balance sheet reconciliations, including following up on and resolving outstanding items, and construct correcting journal entries.
• Process receipts to producer AR accounts in GIMS by the end of the day they are received and file all related documents.
• Prepare and submit the monthly Statement of Payments report on time and assist with periodic agency audits.
• Carry out other related duties and special projects requested by management.

Required profile

• Five CXC passes including Mathematics and English Language.
• Entry-level accounting qualification such as Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) or Certified Accounting Technician (CAT).
• Experience in accounts payable is an asset; basic general insurance knowledge is also an asset.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to multitask, adapt and work with minimal supervision.
