Fraud Prevention Associate (Backoffice)

About the role

The Fraud Prevention Associate acts as a primary defense specialist, separate from customer support, and is responsible for proactively detecting, investigating and mitigating sophisticated fraud such as scams, account takeovers and payment fraud. The role demands an adversarial, proactive mindset while strictly adhering to regulatory and departmental service level agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform deep investigations into account anomalies using device fingerprinting, IP analysis and behavioral biometrics to spot social engineering patterns.
• Make final disposition decisions on high-risk funding and transactions, applying established procedures and investigative judgment.
• Write evidentiary-grade case notes that explain the rationale behind each decision and provide a defensible audit trail.
• Manage high-volume triage queues, prioritizing qualitative accuracy so no high-risk alert is missed.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of direct experience in fraud prevention, AML or KYC within financial services or payments; general customer support experience is not accepted.
• Ability to pass a standard typing test (recommended benchmark 45+ WPM with high accuracy).
• High school diploma required; a college degree or vocational certification is a plus.
• A healthy skepticism, precision-oriented approach and a metric-driven mindset focused on decision quality and accuracy.
