Agency General Manager

About the role

The Agency General Manager reports to the Chairman of LEND and leads the business development and implementation of approved LEND initiatives. The role also covers the financial management of the agency, including the integrity of financial reporting, internal controls against fraud and compliance with statutory and contractual requirements, while advancing the mandate to transform the South Western Peninsular.

Key responsibilities

• Lead programmes supporting sustainable small businesses and MSMEs, including business planning, mentoring and monitoring
• Facilitate access to skills training and education for selected business sectors
• Develop business development strategies and build a partner network (marketers, transporters, retailers)
• Ensure financial controls are robust, budgets are followed and expenditure is within plan
• Provide accurate information to the Board on strategy and annual plans, and lead day-to-day operations including recruitment of office staff
• Manage loan growth, arrears and delinquency in line with policy and budget
• Prepare and manage the annual budget, work with external auditors on statutory accounts, and approve monthly payroll and supplier payments
• Mentor staff, review performance and coach teams toward agency targets

Required profile

• Preferably a Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Finance or Accounting or equivalent
• At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years at management level
• Experience with self-sustainable or revolving funds
• Ability to grow the client base and loan portfolio, and to run activities with minimal supervision
