Financial Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a highly competent Financial Accountant to join our fast‑moving retail and distribution team. You will be responsible for accurate financial record‑keeping, supporting reporting cycles, and providing insightful analysis to help senior management make informed decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting functions, ensuring timely recording of all financial transactions.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, financial statements, budgets, forecasts and detailed financial analyses.
• Reconcile general ledger, bank, accounts receivable and accounts payable balances.
• Oversee retail sales, cash receipts, credit‑card transactions, deposits, refunds, discounts and other revenue‑related activities.
• Monitor inventory accounting, including purchases, transfers, adjustments, shrinkage and stock counts.
• Analyse gross profit margins, product costs, sales trends and inventory movements.
• Assist in annual budget preparation and cash‑flow forecasting.
• Maintain internal controls over cash, inventory, purchasing and sales.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and company policies.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, banks and other external stakeholders.
• Prepare financial reports and present recommendations to senior management.
• Identify discrepancies, investigate variances and implement corrective actions.
• Support payroll accounting and statutory reporting requirements.
• Guide and supervise junior accounting staff where applicable.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent).
• 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in retail, distribution or high‑volume trading environments.
• Strong knowledge of financial and management accounting, inventory accounting and internal controls.
• Experience preparing budgets, forecasts and financial analysis.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems.
