Junior Purchasing Assistant

About the role

The Junior Purchasing Assistant supports the procurement team in acquiring raw materials and services efficiently. You will coordinate purchasing activities, maintain accurate records, and ensure timely delivery while learning the fundamentals of supply‑chain management.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchase requests for raw materials in line with company procedures.
• Assist in evaluating suppliers and quotations to obtain the best price and quality.
• Maintain relationships with existing suppliers and help source new ones.
• Monitor stock levels, support inventory planning and help avoid stockouts or overstocking.
• Prepare purchase orders, update delivery schedules and keep procurement records up to date.
• Communicate professionally with internal departments and external suppliers via phone and email.
• Follow up on pending orders, quotations and documentation to meet deadlines.
• Support implementation of process improvements and ensure compliance with purchasing policies.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Good written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to analyze technical data in supplier proposals.
• Basic understanding of procurement processes and supplier management.

Required skills

• Proficiency with word processing software (e.g., Microsoft Word).
• Proficiency with spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel).
• Effective use of internet research tools for supplier information.
